There will be at least one U.S. men’s national team player featuring in Ligue 1 during the upcoming season.
Emmanuel Sabbi has made a permanent transfer to French side Le Havre, the club announced Thursday. Sabbi joined from Danish Superliagen side Odense and proceeded to sign a four-year deal with the club.
The 25-year-old Italian-born attacker spent the last three seasons with Odense, registering 21 goals and 14 assists in 89 combined appearances. He scored eight goals for Odense last season in 19 combined appearances.
Sabbi previously also featured for fellow Danish club Hobro prior to their relegation, making 81 appearances for the club and scoring 16 goals. He originally moved to Europe as a youth player for Las Palmas.
A former U.S. youth national team standout, Sabbi earned his senior debut under Anthony Hudson in January. He remains an option in the USMNT pool as Gregg Berhalter begins his second stint as head coach this September.
Le Havre earned automatic promotion back to Ligue 1 last season after finishing first in Ligue 2, three points ahead of Metz FC.
They open their competitive schedule on Sunday at Montpellier.
